The Nigerian Institute of Animal Science was established by the National Assembly Act No. 26 of 2007 under the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development as a regulatory agency for Animal Science practice with powers to regulate all matters pertaining to Animal husbandry in Nigeria. The Act is predicated on 3 core mandates viz:

Regulation of Animal Husbandry practices for increased profitability to all Stakeholders’ and guarantee improved Animal Husbandry and Production Systems that will embrace environmental sustainability and ensure high quality and quantity of animal proteins to Nigerians
VISION
To be the foremost regulatory Institution for Animal Science and Husbandry practice in Africa that will improve the standard of living of its people.

NIAS COMMENCES INTERNSHIP POSTING FOR 2020
Nigerian Institute of Animal Science has commenced posting of interns to livestock establishments (feed mills, farms, etc).

This is to inform GAS/Non members who want to register for MCPE via remita platform to click on "Training" and state the description as GAS MCPE or Non member.
Note: Graduate Animal Scientists(GAS) are expected to attend at least two(2) MCPE trainings within the period of five(5) years of post-graduation as prerequisite to become a Registered Animal Scientist(RAS) or sit for RAS Examination.
