A one-day tripartite workshop organized by NIAS was held with experts from NBTE and Afos Foundation (Nigeria) at Embassy hall, Envoy Hotel and Suites, Diplomatic Drive, CBD, Abuja.
The workshop entailed stakeholder engagement on the development of standards for National Certification on Technical Training (TVET) in Animal Husbandry.
The workshop identified the need for a viable middle level manpower for the poultry industry in Nigeria for increased efficiency, productivity and market access.
This identified manpower needs includes;
- Livestock technicians
- Quality Assurance technicians
- Poultry Mechanics
This is in line with the National Skills Qualification framework where the Nigerian Institute of Animal Science (NIAS) is the Sector Skill Council by virtue of Act No. 26 of 2007 as amended 2015 for the award of National Certificates.
