Professor Udo Herbert holds B.Agric. (Animal Science) (UNN), M.Sc. Animal Science and Ph.D. Animal Physiology (UI) degrees. He pioneered research on the construction and evaluation of an artificial vagina for collecting rabbit semen in Nigeria. His research focus is on assisted reproductive technologies and reproductive management of farm animals. Professor Herbert was National President of the Nigerian Society for Animal Production and Nigeria’s Representative in the Standing Committee of the International Congress on Animal Reproduction

NOTICE OF GAS EXAMINATION UPDATE AND ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA*
The Nigerian Institute of Animal Science (NIAS) wishes to inform all current and prospective candidates of the following important updates regarding the 2025 Graduate Animal Scientist (GAS) examination:
1.*Rescheduling of the Examination*
The 2025 GAS examination has been postponed to the next calendar year. A definitive examination date will be announced in due course, and all candidates will be notified promptly.
2.*Expansion of Participating Universities*
NIAS is pleased to announce that the list of universities eligible to sit for the 2025 GAS examination has been expanded. Candidates are encouraged to visit the NIAS website to view the complete, updated list of participating institutions and to complete their registration.
3.*Eligibility Criteria*
Only students *currently enrolled in the fiveyear Animal Science programme* at a participating university may register for the examination.
4.*Registration Status*
The online registration portal for the 2025 GAS examination remains open. Applicants are advised to submit their applications as soon as possible to avoid any lastminute issues.
5.*Further Communications*
Additional details, including the new examination schedule, venue information, and any required documentation, will be communicated in the new year.
